146.86 REPEATER SYSTEM
- This was the first of our repeaters, and remains sort of the "flagship" of the system--anyway
it gets the most use! The 146.86 repeater is the machine most people choose when they say they'll meet
you on the "Salem repeater."
- This summer, the .86 system was moved to Eagle Crest, approximately
one mile north of its previous location on Popcorn Hill. Now at an
elevation of approximately 1,100 feet, the repeater views the Willamette Valley
and can be accessed from the Portland/Vancouver area easily as well as west to the top
of the coast range and east to the foothills of the Cascades.
- The repeater is a Yaesu Vertex VXR-5000 25 watt continuous-duty system like its sister stations
(145.33 & 147.02) and is controlled by a S-Comm 7K controller, that supports the
local ARES community with two-tone paging and autopatch, 911 access and other features.
This system uses a four-cavity duplexer system with two band-pass cavities as well as a
duplexer to help eliminate "out of band" intermod products. The system is supported by an
automated emergency power supply.
- The 146.86 repeater identifies as W7SRA (SRA club callsign).
System operator for the .86 machine is
Alan Davenport, W7APD.
To report any repeater problems, Alan can be reached by email.
